This hardcover book is the first edition was published in 1909 by Hodder & Stoughton with 328 pages. The text is unmarked on heavily tanned pages. The spine panel is torn and has been repaired with tape. The hinges are cracked causing the binding to be loose. Heavy shelf and edge wear with bumped corners. Contains 82 photographs of various dog breeds. A classic in the field of canine literature. The signature book plate of Mr. Francis Fretwell is attached to the front paste down. The front free endpaper is detached. Despite the contain this is an affordable first edition that is suitable for rebinding or reading. Please note that due to improper storage this copy does have a musty odor.
