Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. The text is unmarked. The binding is sound though the spine is slightly tilted. The dust jacket is moderately worn around the edges with several small closed tears, small chips and some creasing. The underside of the front part of the dust jacket has a few coffee stains. The page edges are lightly toned. Chelsea O. Burkett was born southeast of Noble, Oklahoma, one year before state hood. He attended the Canada rural school, the Noble High School, and six years at the University of Oklahoma. All are within the bounds of Cleveland County. He received his first degree, in Elementary Education, his Masters in Secondary Administration, and did almost all of his course work for his Doctor's Degree...... Burkett did forty-two years of teaching, all within Cleveland County. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Classification Specialist, testing, interviewing, classifying, and making assignments on new draftees or enlisted personnel...... Now retired, he and his wife, Jewel, and son, Roger, live on a farm south of Noble, Oklahoma, which they own and operate. In addition to that he serves on the Cleveland County Excise and Equalization Board, is a director of the First State Bank in Noble, and is serving as Community Committeeman of Community "A" of Cleveland County. He is a member of the American Legion Post 88...... Burkett's life has been spent in Cleveland County, except for the War years 1942-45. He has lived through the administration of every Governor of Oklahoma since statehood. The book A SOONER TEACHER deals with everyday experiences of his life as he lived them from childhood to his senior years, in and around the vicinity of Noble, Oklahoma, where he now resides.
